Monday 21st -

Working through a spreadsheet, processing Universal Credit atlas updates on Northgate, which were all new claims for Council Tax Reduction.  This involved registering the new claim, checking Council Tax Records against the UC information and pending the pdf document to wait for the next UC update with the claimant's income.  I also completed VEP tasks which involved logging in and checking the claim from the allocated National Insurance Number and making changes to income if appropriate or writing to the claimant for further information regarding changes in jobs/salary.

Wednesday 23rd -

Today I worked through another spreadsheet, this time processing atlas in relation to other DWP benefits or changes in addresses.  I have written out to claimants who have moved to other properties without informing benefits and I have also cancelled HB/CTR claims due to the death of the claimant.  This also involved in some cases completing a death notification form on the Kirklees website, to inform Council Tax.  I have also today, processed new CTR claims, created online by customers and had a one to one meeting with my line manager Anita to discuss performance and any work issues.

Thursday 24th -
Today is my off the job training day, due to not being able to use the Northgate system whilst updates are being done so it has restricted me in gathering evidence from claim processing or dealing with customers.  I am completing this blog, looking through Anite for potential claims I can use as evidence, working on some of the maths and English assessments.  I have also been using Kirklees Mipod Extra, to look for personal development opportunities within the online training packages.  I have completed the fire safety elearning and received a pass certificate.  I have also spent time writing an assessment to submit evidence onto skilsure.

Friday 25th -
Working through UC atlas updates for new CTR claims and changes in Universal Credit income. Taking phone enquiries.  I processed a change of circs for a vulnerable claimant after taking a call.  The claim was another officer's work but they were on annual leave.  The claimant was anxious and upset on the phone over her benefit being suspended. She had provided the required proofs so I processed the change and resumed her HB. Also processed some changes of circs from my tray work.

  1. Great reflection of the week. Friday is particularly interest on how you dealt with the phone call - this could make a good piece of evidence for S4.1 as you would have had to adapt your communication style due to her anxiety and being upset.
