Monday 20th January 2020

Today I was in the office and attending the pre booked Maths revision day with Amanda from Escalla.  We spent several hours going over different maths processes and she helped with any aspects that I wasn't confident with.  I found the revision time really helpful and Amanda explained things really well.

Tuesday 21st January

Today I was in the office, on my usual day off work.  I have completed the level 2 Maths Functional skills exam online this afternoon, after spending the morning revising again with Amanda.  Even wit hall the revision, I found the exam difficult in places.  I was very disappointed that I ran out of time on the first, none calculator section.  I only managed to get through 12 of the 15 questions.  It made me a bit distracted then carrying on with the next section of the exam.  My mind goes blank and I get in a panic sometime when I have a timer to keep to.  I managed to get through all of the questions but I am not at all confident about passing.  I think the 70% requirement to pass is too high.

Wednesday 22nd January

Today I  have been processing atlas items.  These were mainly for Pension Credit April uprates and also ESA (SC) April uprates.  The DWP send them through in bulk every year.  The rate of the support component in ESA hasn't changed this year but the uprates still come through to accept.

Thursday 23rd January

Today I have been working through new work allocated to my tray in Anite.  This included two new claims for Housing Benefit, for homeless accommodation and also new CTR claims for new UC applications.  I have also used the DWP, real time wage information access to request to tasks.  This involved being provided with the National Insurance Number and wage information for to live claims.  On one of these claims, which was active and paying Housing Benefit, the claimant's wages had fluctuated a lot and for the past couple of months, he hadn't worked at all.  I suspended the claim and was going to write to the claimant for an update.  I checked searchlight, in the meantime and this is when I discovered that the claimant had been in receipt of Universal Credit which included housing costs, since October 2018! When the claimant claimed UC, we should have received a HB stop notice to cancel his housing benefit claim.  I have had to refer this to a senior officer, in charge of the HB  cancellations for UC claims.  He is looking into how this has happened and will get back to me.

Friday 24th January
